Oh no...not another paint question....Yup.

I am looking for the formula or a supplier of "Light Stone #61
as I intend on painting my F15A in desert/Med colors....

Can anyone provide some insight or intel.

Also looking for a clutch pedal.

Sorry for the long delay in responding to your parts query - I have a clutch pedal, but it is attached to a F15...but, I am still looking around for your pedal.

Here's a wartime colour picture of light stone. The only light stone vehicle I've come across seems to be a richer yellow. To come up with my version for my C8 I opened this pic in Photoshop then selected a representive shade and coloured a big area and printed it. I took this to a paint supplier and computer matched it and had some mixed up. It turned out like the paler shades in the picture.
I'm going to use the purple disruptive colour in an MPT 20 scheme and put a roundel on the top of the tilt canvas. Not your typical O-D army truck!

I have a couple of NOS CMP parts painted 'stone'. There's a paint manufacturer in Brampton who has matched (very well) 'Canadian' O.D. and Khaki for my from similar NOS parts. They'll make the paint in any form you wish...matt, semi, gloss, enamel...depending on your preference.

They keep matches on file for others to use. Perhaps it's time to have them mix up a batch of stone? I'd be interested in letting them have a go at some Brown No.2 parts I have.

I have the formula for light stone (courtesy of Mike Cecil, AWM) for the humbrol brand of model paints. If you like I will dig it out and if you can mix a bit of it I am sure that a good paint shop can match it.

Obtain a tin of Humbrol model paint code 121 and then go to your paint supplier and get him to replicate it.

Mike, you have an original WW2 paint supplier right in your town. We found a can of WW2 paint and phoned the company and they were still in business. They have been making paint for us for years and they can colour match anything, The paint they made for us now has a rust preventitive additive. It does fade a bit after years in the sun (my mailbox) but my artillery tractor body has been painted for 10 years and stored inside and except for the bird sh*t still looks good. Also the price is real good. We painted 2 vehicles in the War Museum in Ottawa with this stuff.
Brian Gough had them do some dog sh*t brown also. :confused
The name of the company is White. At least you wouldn't have to pay the hazardous material costs for delivery. :bang:

This is my Dodge which I drove from Aqaba in Jordan to Normandy a few years back. Mixed the paint colour from a NOS CMP headlight painted in "Light Stone".

the Humbrol model paint 121 is pretty close.

Mike, I have the CORRECT CIL WW2 Canadian paint formulation that you are looking for.

To make a long story short, I was offered the original formula and had it converted into todays mixing recipe and the results are a perfect match for the original. Contact me via PM and I will gl;adly send you the recipe. Anyone who saw my 12cab F15a would agree...
