Those peskey headsets for sale

Awhile ago Chirs Vickey mentioned he had access to some NOS Headsets that he could pick up if there were enough members here interested..as only a couple of people were he passed on them, so I now have them.
If anyone is interested the deals the same...$50 each. or $45 for 5 or more.

These are NOS with only minor storage marks on them...Nice yellow "C" Broad arrow on the head band.
Round 1/4 jack.

here is his original thread

http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/sh...&threadid=8268

AS mentioned in another thread..I have picked up 12 MK 5 field phones and 3 Switchboards ( 2 differant types..one is marked 1943 sig platoon E & K)...I have some wire coming..and intend to buy several more if the phones and another switchboard.)
If any one has manuals on these I could really use them or photo copies of them.
I want to get several of these up and running for the June 9-10 Camp X event this year.

One odd thing I saw but didn't pick up ( now it's too late) were 1940s and 1950s green cans of US Military Motor oil..it amazing what people still have in thier barns.
I am looking forward to getting back into this guys farm as his barn is full of goodies, and I can only get into parts of it at this time...anyone need cocking studs for the SMG??

Thanks

Dean,

Depending upon which switchboards you have, you should be able to find downloadable manuals from:

The Wireless Set No 19 Group - www.RoyalSignals.org.uk

You have to request the passwords for each manual you require, but the fellows that run the site are very helpfull. Here is an example of the manuals they have for switchboards, thay have hundreds of manuals avail...

SIG083 Fullerphones, Mark IV Signal Training Volume III, Pamphlet No. 21, October 1939
SIG081 Lamp, Signalling, Daylight Signal Training Volume III, Pamphlet No. 7, 1927
561 Repeater, Carrier Telephone, No 1 Mk II Handbook, April 1943
193 Switchboards Magneto, 10 Line, No.2 Australian Military Forces Handbook (AUST) No 2, YAA3610, 1945
305 Switchboard, Magneto 10 Line (WD) Working Instructions, YA7230, Oct 1944
311 Switch Board, UC, 10 Line, Mk II Complete Equipment
224 Switchboards BD-71, BD-72, BD-72A & BD-72B TM 11-330,Oct 1943
608 Switchboard Teleprinter 40-Line Working Instructions, YB02617

Good Luck...

Thanks Brad..I have 2 6 line and 1 10 line switchboard..so I will check it out.

Odd that with that many MK 5 fieldphones kicking around, it's hard to find info on them.

Dean:

Interested in either selling or doing a deal on a UC 6?

Dean Owen 09-05-07 04:23

Jon, contact me at northland@sympatico.ca and we can talk about it.

I have one up and running and another still in a cardboard box.

Hi,

The manuals you actually need are these two:

SIG016 Signal Training Volume III, Pamphlet No. 22, Telephone Sets D Mk V, 1939
SIG017 Signal Training Volume III, Pamphlet No. 26, Switchboards U.C. 10-Line, and 6-Line, May 1940

which contain all the working, maintenance, and testing instructions.

There's also a later pamphlet that is just the list of components
that make up the complete equipment - this is of less use:

311 Switch Board, UC, 10 Line, Mk II Complete Equipment Schedule, Service Edition No. 42410, Complete Station, Simple Equipment, Oct 1960

Hope this is some help,

Chris. (Recently imported a 10-line UC from Canada but the idiot put it in a thin-walled cardboard box with no padding and it was dropped (as expected) cracking the operator and 3 line units in half (as well as other damage). I'm looking for spares and accessories plus a 6-line UC switchboard....)

Thanks Chris..I will keep a look out for them or photocopys of them.

As Brad noted above, you can download them free of charge from http://www.royalsignals.org.uk and print yourself a manual.

(The switchboard one is mine, scanned in and cleaned up by Alister Mitchell, who does a grand job.)

Best,
Chris.

Brad Mills 18-05-07 13:49

Agreed Chris,

Alister Mitchell and the fellows at the Royal Signals site do a surpurb job and they supply all these manuals for free, I haven't counted the number of manuals offered, but its has to be at least 100 in all the different categories, if not more.

A fantastic resource for any one with this equipment.

Brad
