tires for Lynx
Hi.
The WW2 Ford Lynx is moving right along in it's restoration. We will be looking for tires so I'm turning to you for your thoughts and suggestions. They were origonally 8:25x16 which we don't expect to find so we will probably end up with 9:00x16. They had a chevron type tread pattern during WW2. I was thinking maybe Ferret tires would look okay. Anyone know of a source for Ferret tires or any other tires please let me know. Thanks Dan danjahn@qlink.ca |

I noticed that you mentioned 8.25x16 tyres for the Lynx. Sorry it should be 9.25x16 and Ferret tyres will fit if the bead is of the right shape. Here is photo of the Ferret tyres on the Ex-Australian one in England. My lynx is still a fair way off being restored.

....and the tyres would be Dunlop Trackgrips (for British wheels)made as ordinary tyres as well as various types of runflats.

Do a search on 9:00 X 16 tyres to bring up the very extensive thread on this subject. Unfortunately untill Simex start acting sensibly on the supply of their tyres, finding track grip 9:00 X 16 tyres will get increasingly difficult. If you don't mind US pattern they are freely available. |
