Making things the wacky way
 

I just thought I would start a thread on wacky ways we have made parts we needed.

I needed this nut for my front armour on my Universal carrier resto. I compared it to ones available but found it was an odd size both in diameter and thickness. Since it was going to be in a high visibility position I figured I would try and make it myself. Using only a pair of vise grips and a bench grinder I managed to grind myself and near copy. I did have to run to the hose a few times and cool things down as even with gloves it got damn hot. After drilling out the center I tapped out the threads and it fit perfectly.

Just goes to show what you can do with vise grips and a bench grinder.

Geez Jordan, you need to get yourself a hobby..... errr.... ;)

I haven't had too much of that with the jeep resto...they take all the fun out of the job when everything is available on the repop market, and didn't get far enough along with the truck to require fabricaton of those hard to find parts.....

Kudos mate, at least I know who I can ask to do those tough to do parts now ;)
