What do you guys make of this one, is it for real or a mock up for a military show or similer. the only info i have is it was used by the Hong Kong police in the 1950s surely we would have supplied them with surplus military items by then, i await the comments with interest
cheers

police vehicle

HI Les,
could not you if it were a limited run Military armoured car or not.
But I would not be surprised if it were a special police vehicle more designed for riot control and the like , instead of combat. Look at the HUmber pig and all the special Landies about for urban control. Also there are a number of anti riot water cannon trucks around the globe that were specialty made.
Just a thought.

@les freathy

Hong Kong has a rather long tradition of building their own armoured cars.
For earlier vehicles of this type see The Overvalwagen Forum:
eg:

and:

and:

and also Shanghai in the 1920s and 30s:

Btw, you are welcome to post your question also there...

Kind regards,

Thanks guys

Yes possible riot control but i am not sure if the Saracens were in service then when this photo was taken and of course a mobile water cannon although it seem a bit on the small side, but thinking again many of the streets in Hong Kong were on the narrow and crowded side so it could make sense

Never seen them before, but they remind me of the Sudanese armoured cars in WW2:

Good thought they could be part of the Sudan defence force
