Imagine turning up at an event with a Matador restored like this...would anyone believe this is "authentic"?

Hi Hanno

Not quite so unusual but it would certainly cause a stir if one turned up. The REME converted a number in the desert by utilizing jibs from Hyster industrial cranes, i would assume taken from the many base workshops out there and the majority were fitted with disguarded CMP 15cwt bodies for the tackle. The lower photo shows 3 under construction i believe a few survived into the Italian campaign, one even survived in the UK and somewhere i have a photo of it working in the Brighton Sussex area and will post it when located

Following on from the previous photos how about turning up with this beast, another recovery conversion this time armoured note how they strove to keep the vehicle low profile

Hi Hanno

Found the photo of one of the surviving Matadors in your thread, it was taken by a good friend Ted Harris in the Brighton area a number of years ago and i have no idea where it is at present. Maybe a UK member can enlighten us
Cheers Les
