Landrovers in Mahone Bay NS

Hi

Was at the folks campsite in NS this passed long weekend as as we were coming out of Mahone Bay on Sunday (03 Sep 06), I noticed a bunch of Landrovers coming in. Most were the standard config (both Mil and Civ pattern) but this one caught my eye as we waited for it to back ito the parking space. I couldn't stop and chat them up and I only managed three pics as I was a) Driving and b) scared of my Mother's threats as we had frozen food in the trunk. I'm a Forty-something soldier on his way overseas and I'm still scared of that l'il woman!!

Plenty had US State liscence plates (Maine, Massachusetts, Florida) and some had Nova Scotia plates.

Anyone here know any more?

regards
Darrell

I think it is a Landrover F101.

hello darrell

those rovers belong to a club based in nova scotia known as M.O.R.E. which i think stands for Maritime Organization Of Landrover Enthusiasts. they have a big meet every year on the labourday weekend. people from other land rover clubs travel to N.S. to attend, and people from N.S. viceversa. i went to their 2000 event and had a hell of a good time...the off road sections were something else. my favorite was a short wheelbase series 11 from lunenburgh, n.s.

cheers!!

Darrell,

You have spotted a rare version of the Land Rover 1 tonne 4x4, or 101 as it is often known as. It is the Vampire, only 20 built, the name stands for Vehicle Army Mobile Position Interfreometry Radio Equipment. Its purpose was to identify the origin of radio signals. The frame on the rear is to mount a telescopic mast, which was stowed for travelling, on the roof.
