Some pics I took on 2 July of CMP trucks and other Canadian vehicles at the National War and Resistance Museum / Marshall Museum at Overloon, The Netherlands:

hi hanno
those are some great looking vehicles. i noticed that the track on the canadian marked sherman looks like new!! also, i noticed the markings on the cmp's, c60x with u.s. army on bumper, and the f60l with the CZxxxxxxx on the door? small details because to me it's more important they be preserved for future generations rather than rotting in a field. thanks for sharing the pics  mike |

Hi Hanno,
I know that you are especially CMP vehicles enthusiast, but what about other vehicles , which were originally displayed in Zwijndrecht? I am especially interested in Chevy 4x4 earth borer, GMC CCKW bolster truck and, perhaps most of all, Mack NR. Are these vehicles displayed at Overloon after closing the Zwijndrecht collection? I also believe that in the Netherlands there are several more Macks, especially the LMSW wrecker, donīt you know if and where these Heavies are displayed? Maybe there would be more enthusiasts interested in ... Happy searching, Jan. |

As far as I can tell most if not all of the Marshall collection was put on display at Overloon, but this is all I photographed, sorry. See tanxheaven.com for some excellent Mack pictures. H. http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data.../imm019_20.jpg |
C60X with "US Army " on Bumper
This also apppears to be fitted with a U.S ST-6 "Shop Van" body which is normally seen on the CCKW. Does anyone know if this was actually done in WWII or is this just more "Museum Licence"?

http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/at...=&postid=53627 Linked from Chevrolet C60L with early GS body The US Army markings are probably due to "Museum Licence" as you suggested. Hey, they can't all be perfect :rolleyes H. |

Yes I thought I was loosing it ... The bodies were the same ,no matter what chassis they were mounted on..so they would look the same on a Ford or a Chev... Budd also made bodies for every thing durring the war and the CCkw bodies by Budd were found on more than one CMP.. |

I have just returned from Overloon, I could confirm that all vehicles previously shown in Zwijndrecht are shown in Overloon now, see the Big Mack for an examlple. It is probably the best Europian softskines collection now. But, I would have a small remark: Does anybody know if the vehicle markings are really authentic? Some of vehicles seem not to be in original state (f.e. the FWD COE seems to have the Matador body, or the CMP C60X with US workshop body, as already mentioned several times). Anyway, it is definitely worth of visiting. Happy searching, :salute: Jan. |
FWD Matador
The FWD does have a matador body, my late father has put it on to it, it was at that moment the best solution to make the vehicle complete. It was sold to the museum of Mr. Reijntjes In Uithuizermeeden who later sold his collection, I beleve 56 trailers of vehicles and pars to the Marchal museum.
Green greetings Hendrik. PS. The US navy Sterling DDS 235 I sold to the Marchal museum, they restored it from almost zero to I must say perfect in just 3 months. |

Well, the Sterling is really one piece of beauty... (I hope that the CMP enthusiasts will forgive me...) ;)
Happy searching, Jan. :salute: |
