Off topic, but some help please- Johnson Outboard
Sorry for deviating away from evena vehicle, but i needed some help!
I have found a good condition- probably excellent would be better, Johnson ex ww2 outboard motor. She is very original- a minor coat of paint but the OD is still evident underneath, 2 stroke, good tank, good prop, nothing appears broken. Great compression. On the pulley for the rope start there was no model or serial number stamped in the bosses and the serial number on the casting pad below the engine appeared to have been ground off so i have no numbers to go from. I`m pretty interested in her, but am way out of my league when it comes to something like this. Does anyone have any idea on a price? What would market value be? Anything? Thankyou, Ian. |
No help but...
When Hughes Trading in Melbourne was being cleared out there was a large stock of spares for these outboards, all scrapped sadly.

Ian, the Cobbaton Combat Collection is offering the following for sale:

My opinion is that outboard engines of this era are very, very rare... H. |
Hanno, as you said, that was my opinion. That they would be quite rare. I did a seach on the net and it yeilded very little.
IF i found another in similar condition, i suspect they would want an arm and 2 legs, or it would be old, clapped out and junky and would probably just want one leg! I`ll have a talk to the guy- I have known him since i was born, so that makes it easier to talk to him than a stranger selling it, so will see what i can do. As for the spares Keith... that Hughes Trading mob closing down has alot to answer for! :D Thanks guys! Ian. |
