C60S on e-bay

See item no 4611581760. Some interesting cab mods, but it does have the winch.

Bob Carriere 15-02-06 03:23

Loverly.....

Best of all are the front door skin.....I like the galvanized sheeting from a barn.....ahem... Canadian barn that is!!!!

Road Trip??

Other than a few significant wet patches, this would be a fun trip, Bob! Is there a ferry from Tierra del Fuego to Yass?

Keith Webb 15-02-06 05:32

C60S

So, a C60S with winch...

http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data...edium/b1_3.jpg

Maybe a former No6 arty tractor... Looks like someone's been trying to bleed the brakes.

It's at Woori Yallock, not that far out of Melbourne. Fair bit of bidding too.

Alan,
Great to meet you & look over your new prodject, its always good to see another CMP saved from the scrap metal blokes. I hope we can help with any parts you need.

Keith Webb 26-02-06 09:42

First things first

Looks like you need a set of mudguards... then some doors... sidesteps... rear body...

Bob Moseley (RIP) 26-02-06 13:16

Re. First Things First

And don't forget a beautifully restored or replacement instrument panel.

Hi Keith ..
Some of the C 60S's with winch were set up as wreckers and had the Holms wrecKer on them...
Max may have a line on a parts truck here...

After Euan had a look he commented the winch was a retrofit.

Instruments

Hey Salesman Bob,
Are you doing late production gauges now? I thought you would have picked up on the fact it's a late type.

Bob Moseley (RIP) 02-03-06 23:08

Late Type

Hi Euan
No still only the early type. I need the right tools to spin off and re-attach the bezels and I don't even know what they look like.
Bob

could have been used by the RAAF, I have the remains of one here that was blue.
Max

alan coulson 07-03-06 12:25

Could be a dark blue color, hard to tell.

Euan McDonald 07-03-06 23:23

Paint layers

Hi Alan,
Sounds like you are still sanding though the circus paint. :D

alan coulson 08-03-06 08:30

No just clowning around!!..^_^..

alan coulson 11-03-06 05:21

Found some ID numbers today, can any help identify them.

Under engine bonnet LHS 1943 RHS S443 or maybe 8443?

Order no E-52-384
Chassis model R100
Chassis serial no 3-8443-60506M
Build date 29-6-44

Thanks!!

Tony Smith 11-03-06 07:59

Interesting!
8443 is the GM code for a C60L, yet your vehicle appears to have a 134in wb making it a C60S. Is there any sign the chassis has been cut and shortened?
Contract E52-384 only appears to be for Ford F60S and F60L trucks (so far!) for the RAAF. R100 is a GM-H body code for an RAAF vehicle and the M in the serial no indicates Melbourne assembly. Other RAAF Chev/GM-H vehicles have appeared under contract marked SM-E52-448

alan coulson 11-03-06 09:22

Thanks Tony!!
Also found small plate on LHS of dash crossmember.

body no WTS 540 ? very hard to read.
model W/O CAB
JOB NO 414 3401A

Tomorrow i attack it with the pressure cleaner..

Chev Blitz on Ebay

go here
Just found this one.

Keith Webb 19-01-08 08:52

Chev

Didn't this one appear some long time ago? Wasn't it the one with circus connections?

Can't find the link to the original sale - where's Hanno!

I notice engine size is listed as 2.3 litres - perhaps 3.6 would be closer to the pin.

hrpearce 19-01-08 09:17

You would have to hope it was only uncovered for the photos with no distributer cap, no air cleaner and no breather cap on the rocker cover. The starter is also removed.

Good memory you have, Keith. Or is a selective one? I bet you remember an item like this, but forget anniversaries, eh? :D (Just talking from own experience. . .)

Anyway, I found the original thread and merged it with the new one.

MLU Forum member Alan Coulson last posted a message here well over 18 months ago. I hope he's doing fine.

CHEV BLITZ 4X4 TRUCK CHEV BLITZ 4X4 PTO WINCH GREAT PROJECT! Item number: 140200127026
Chev Blitz 4x4 truck was a LWB but was shortened to MWB during it's life, was also a circus truck at some stage, was a complete driveable truck when i bought it, as you can see i started to restore it dismantling the cab for rebuilding, also removed the transfercase for overhauling which is in pieces at the moment, as you can see there is boxes of new seals and bearings 2 sets of each. The motor runs perfectly, lots of spare parts. unfortunately i have no time anymore for projects so it has to go
