Carrier

Hi Guys
I'm not a frequenter of this particular Forum but I thought you may like to see this picture of my Dad taken in Italy in the winter of 1944. Ted Ashby was a Fitter class 1 with 692 Inf Troop Workshop and he specialised in carriers, he's the one with his foot on the axel. I have a question what is the tac marking on the carrier ? Pete |

Another picture taken at the same time as the first, the vehicles are being worked on in a wrecked school yard up in the mountains.
My Dad is rear rank left notice over his shoulder the carrier on the trailer for interest the names are as follows L to R from the rear: L/Cpl Ashby, S/Sgt Woodrow, Q bloke Fern, L/Cpl Andrews, Front row L to R Fitters mate Forrest (my dads fitters mate) Fitters mate Innes, and L/Cpl Winkley. There is another picture taken form a slightly different angle that shows another carrier, I'm having a problem scanning it, I'll post it when done. What is the armoured car by the way ? Hope these are of some interest Pete |

The armoured car behind the gantry, could be a Humber MkIII, from the mantlet and spare wheel position. Richard |
