Agree - but who fitted that armoured front and for what purpose?!? :confused
Must have been the Germans, and I can't see why they would elaborately convert only one...

Well all:

This seems to be to me a very unusual vehicle.
I thinkwe will all agree it is a CMP 15CWT.

The venue/area, seems to me to be North Africa but that is only a guess.

The registration plate on all of the photos I have seen in this series jof photos seems to me to be WM which would be the German Navy.

The background of the photos does not, to me, indicate a Port location so I am a bit confused.

Over to a better expert in this area.

Being practical.....

The Germans must have been tired of servicing the engine with the original small engine cover..... so they modified it and used armour plate while at it...... not a bad deal........ they must have loved our CMPs....

The ideal vehicle to start with.

it's a c11

I'm sure the one with the armoured front is a cab 11, you can tell by the fuel tank.

The reversable winter parka would probably preclude Africa, and it's presence would indicate sometime after 1942. The gun is 20mm FlAK 38, and, as noted, the license plate is Kriegsmarine. Armouring the front end of FlAK trucks was not uncommon. How about Italy early 1944 , maybe the Anzio area?

Parkas in the Sahara

Hi Roger:

Don't discount parkas in the desert... on posting to the Sahara in '93 ,I was directed to take not only my parka but also my snowshoes!

The justification was that we could be hauled out and shipped directly to some other part of the world without a chance to pickup our winter kit... besides it drops to 0 degrees Celcius, some nights in the desert!

Needless to say the whole Canadian contingent seems to have had a mass amnesia and we all used the space in our luggage for more desert related items such as scuba gear! :D

Cheers! Mike
