Blackout cover
1 Attachment(s)
Howdy all! I bought one of those blackout covers from the ebayer in Argentina and I'm trying to figure out how to affix it to the headlamp. The cover appears to be for a flat lensed headlamp but my truck has modern convex headlamps. Are original CMP headlamps flat and do I need any special clips or whatever to mount the cover? Any help, as usual, greatly appreciated.

Original cmp headlamps were compsed of several pieces. On the outside, a bezel ring as in your picture. The headlight glass was a seperate piece from the reflector. There is a ring which holds the glass in place as well. What you need to do is to remove the sealed beam headlight that you have there and replace it with the blackout shield.

New Head Light reflector and halogen bulbs
Strange that you should post your question tonight. Just spent the last hour or so tracking down 6 volt halogen head light bulbs that replace the 2330 bulbs used in CMP reflector units. I'm getting more information. Also been looking for replacement reflector units for these early style headlamps. Will post more information as soon as I have it.

Hi Phil
Need to post the picture as a Jpg. I tried to download it but it did not work. The blackout cover should fit inside the retainer ring that is holding the lense in place. Check out the my thread in the restoration forum for more pictures and you should see all the parts you need. |

Here is the page from the parts book as a JPG file. Had problems sending it the first time.
Also just heard back from the company that has 6 and 12 halogen pre-focused bulbs. I will be ordering the bulbs today and will post report on how they work. |

head lights
the drawing labelled 2nd cab is for 13 cabs,
note the head light 'bucket' as opposed to the individual 'pan' unit in the top picture this is common to both 11 and 12 cabs confusing isn't it ? Pete |
Also...
There is also a blackout cover that is curved with a centre pin hole that will fit over the lens of the cab 13 lens...part number 2.732.

Outer ring 2.728 with screw 2.729 inner retainer ring 2.731 lens 2.727 reflector with parking light socket 2.734 pig tail and sockets 2.750 bulbs if I can ever figure out how to remove them 2.7342 inner bucket 2.726 with screws 2.737 and springs 2.721 master main bucket 2.726 ....and would give up my first born for NOS or very good headlight retainer rings for the cab11/12 part # 2.731 Bob C. |

you let us show now the group numbers. Chevrolet have diffirent part numbers, w/ the same group number. The best way by Chev is to use the right part no., w/ first jobs - after jobs & 1st type cab - 2st type cab. The part no. from Ford are easyer, always a right part number but with diffirent codes. Your CMP parts are still in the middle of the Ocean, bad weather delay. January 27 is now the arriving time in Toronto. Mvg. Dirk |
Ooops...
Thanks Dirk
Will repost with the Chev parts number from the manual. .....I am learning just a bit slow.... Bob C. |
