Oz weather

Memo to self:

Remind me to rub it in six months from now when the Antipodeans are freezing their asses off, as we bask in marvelous weather, with a fresh breeze wafting through the cranked up front window of a CMP, at 40 mph. :salute:  :D

Oz Weather

In 3 months we here in Queensland shift into our winter weather of clear blue skies with temps of 26C during the day and cool nights down to 4C at times.

This is typical tropical weather as it is also our dry period and , for me at least, well worth 3 months of stinking hot rainy weather at this time of the year In return for 9 months of good.

cheers
Cliff:salute:

Dear Jon (without an H)
Oz weather, no matter when, is marvelous one day and perfect the next. It is also interesting that you mention driving a CMP. Am I to understand that the Canadian CMP has been restored and is running?

Good morning Max. As you can see my left-handed typing is much improved since my shoulder surgery! I can now hold down the shift key with my pinky and hit the ? with my thumb! It's hard not to be smug while basking in glorious sunshine isn't it? We set a new record high for the date yesterday at 82f. (28c.) with the humidity at only 8%. For the normally humid South it was wonderful! I sat outside in my shirtsleeves touching up the paint on my C15 with a Shiner Bock in one hand and a paint brush alternately in the same hand. How's weather back in Canada guys? Sorry, I shouldn't Lord it over my fellow Northern Hemisphereans! Hope your son is enjoying himself in Montana, tell him if he gets to Columbia Falls or Polebridge he'll cross some tracks I laid down during a resupply trip during a Grizzly bear hunt in S.E. British Columbia.
Now to business. I made a neophyte's mistake in assuming all my truck's studs were lefthand thread. I've subsequently found out that the left side's studs are lefthand thread while the right side's studs are righthand thread. DOH! Is this standard for CMP's? So I need three righthand thread lugnuts also. I'm going to contact the others who responded to see if the nuts are available a little closer to home. I have a small token of appreciation for you for the lugnuts you sent, would you mind PM'ing me with your address so that I might mail it to you?
Hope you had a merry Christmas and best wishes for the new year!

CHIMO!

Derek

Left hand thread= left side
right hand thread= right side
This set up is standard for the road transport industry (trucking).
Its just that when they are made this way, the forward motion of the vehicle tends to tighten and not to loosen the wheel nuts.
Cheers,
Lynn.

Bob: Thanks for asking. It was always restored, but required a new engine to be installed. (Courtesy MLUer Stewart Loy).

Brought 'er home 23 Dec, winter stored, looking forward to participating in various events starting in the spring.

Hi Vic,

We have had around 6 inches, I have no doubt the Canadians are laughing at us :p It is the lack of traffic because of the holidays that is not helping to keep the roads clear.

Absolutely nothing on the ground here in Toronto... as a matter of fact it's been raining. Peculiar winter, this...

Garry,

I have not heard that ! The only time I had actually witnessed that was in 1987, when we had a week of really heavy snow, then the wind got up and blowing it in to enormous drifts. I was working for the Army at the time and was tasked to snow clear with an International dozer, unfortunately, it did not have a cab !!
While doing this a Chinook landed in front of me to offload a team of ambulance crews to man Land Rover ambulances in the area.

Shoveling?...Isn't that a Building Management task, not the renters problem?

Most probably, anyway, you left wing wienies in Toronto will eventually be taxed on the number of shovel strokes in order to finance the TTC!

:D  :teach:

In this case, 'Building Management' are friends and they aren't here right now. I don't mind giving them a hand - we have the parking area which we share, and two sections of sidewalk to clear.

Regards the 'left-wing wienies' comment... watch it, bub! I live in Jack Layton's riding, and it makes me a little sensitive. At least my local Conservative candidate finally called me back... he sounds very cultured and I'll be doing stuff for him in January! :fry:

Jon Skagfeld 31-12-05 22:16

How does a right winger like you survive in such a left wing environment as is your electoral riding?

Social outcast, not subject to Layton's Socialist policies, hmmm?

Socialism...isn't that the reason that we went to war, some 70-ish years ago?

I've ALWAYS been a social outcast, as you well know... :smoker: :smoker: :smoker:
