OMVA Meeting Dec. 17th, Acton.

Since a member has complained that $5 may scare members from attending let me emphasize this goes directly to the Legion across their bar to buy you lunch. It's not for the Club. We don't get it. I'm already retired!
Secondly since another member asked me why Acton....They gave us the space free because we rent there, it's warm, we don't have to set up tables, (or chairs) and there's lots of free parking.
See you there?

Stewart Loy 22-11-05 18:26

5 bucks?

Peter,

5 bucks to have a hearty lunch of spilled beans and sandwiches, AND hear you speak ... it seems like a bargain to me.

I shall be there with baited breath.

Stewart

Mr. Loy.

Thanks for your quick reply. Off the topic...I have found some
CMP shock bushings and that special washer they us. I may be able to bring 4 to the show for you if you REALLY need them.
LET ME KNOW>

Stewart Loy 22-11-05 21:23

Need 'Em?

Peter,

I am not exectly sure of the part which you speak, but I better take you up on your generous offer, because, as you know, the minute that something is turned down, it becomes critically impartant.

Thanks, and I shall buy you a nonalcholic beer when I see you.

Stewart, have you been eating worms again?
Btw, what time is this shin-dig again?

Nothing else to do out in Beachville this time of year. :D

12-noon, laddie. See you all there!

Barry Churcher 15-12-05 02:39

Peter, I know I was one of the people who asked for a meeting but in all likelyhood I can't attend. On Friday I have to go to a dental surgeon and have 4 teeth removed. As Churcher's Automotive doesn't have a dental plan I am forced to go the cheap route. The specialist says $850.00 for the hammer and chisel method, $1000.00 for the gas, or the recommended $1250.00 for the complete knock out. I opted for the hammer and chisel for obvious reasons. $$$:( He says in all probability I will end up with 2 black eyes. Bob says its because thats where he puts his heels to pull the teeth. Besides the obvious discomfort I don't want to give you all the extra opportunity to insult and degrade me. :D Will you make copies of the minutes available to those of us not attending? I will also gladly pay the $5.00 for the legion and I will send funds to buy you a non alcoholic coffee.
Cheers,
Barry

chris vickery 15-12-05 02:49

Barry, I went the knock out route to have 4 impacted wisdom teeth yanked; definately the way to go. It felt like two minutes but was really two hours plus the added effect of anaestectic and a whole bottle of Demoral to boot. Didn't feel a thing for 3 days... Couldn't or wouldn't have cared less about being made fun of!
Anyhow, a shame you can't make it up here, will talk to you soon I'm sure as rumour has it there's a box on the way from Holland...
Cheers, Chris

Barry Churcher 15-12-05 04:43

Thanks for the input Chris. I was hoping to see the Iltis after the meeting. Oh well, next time. I would rather put this off till after Christmas but after having a headache for 2 weeks I can't wait. Don't tell Peter but I am a little apprehensive about this. I have only had one wisdom tooth removed before and the pr*# cracked my jaw. Went to Carlisle the following day and spent the entire weekend with Excedrin tablets stuck in the empty hole to ease the pain.
:bang:
Cheers,
Chickens*#t Churcher

Barry, it's like a lot of other things. There's good auto mechanics and bad ones. I'm sure the same is true for doctors and dentists.
You certainly don't want to go to the "Canadian Tire" of dental practicioners (sp?). The guy I went to is the best dental surgeon in the Guelph area. I'm not much of a dentist guy myself but he was a pro for sure. Good luck!

peter simundson 15-12-05 19:13

Absence

Barry. I see you were talking to Brian G. You didn't ask for a meeting, you complained to me and made the
same complaint public on MLU. I hear a lot of pissing and moaning as President of OMVA (which I can do without). Most of it is either dramatic and exaggerated and some petty and silly. Are we going to send out minutes? No. They'll be in our minute book. It would cost $150 to do the special mailing. I couldn't mail them anyway, in three months I have yet to get an up to date membership list.
Am I going to insult and degrade you. Not any more. That's over.

Geoff Winnington-Ball (RIP) 15-12-05 21:46

Now now, lads, behave. :teach:

Barry, good luck on your hammer-and-chisel job. I had that done once and it's no fun. At least you'll lose some weight, because you sure won't be able to eat for a while... :D :p

Why Cardinal Fang??? Sounds like a red haired chinese waitress.

Kudos to Peter Simundson for organizing what was a small but informative and enjoyable meeting yesterday. Well done, sir!

peter simundson 18-12-05 16:36

Attendence

Sixteen out of 170. Not bad. All the hard core interested guys.
Got a lot accomplished. Now we've got to get working on it.
Some very good points were raised. It is likely the minutes will be on the OMVA website. Thanks for your attendence Sunray and your excellent questions.
The bartender thanked me for the amount of beer consumed at the meeting.

OMVA Membership List Availability

Well Peter, I'm so glad that you brought this topic up.

In fact it hasn't been three months since you received an up-to-date membership list from me. You got the latest at our Nov 12/05 executive meeting held after the fall show at Acton and another at yesterday's meeting.

When you want an up-to-date list, just ask me for one. I update the list every weekend as you know.

Robert Dabkowski
OMVA Secretary

Take This Offline

Take this offline, you two... I don't want this kind of stuff flying back and forth on MLU.

Thank you for your understanding.

chris vickery 18-12-05 23:33

Thanks guys for the meeting. I think its a great idea and always nice to see friends again. We should do it more often.
I hope I didn't wear out my welcome, I'm just an enthusiastic guy who likes to talk...I have opinions on everything and everybody is welcome to hear them, esp at meetings!
Thanks Peter for the appoinment as an area representative, I am happy to promote the club to the masses.
It was mentioned yesterday to maybe do up some business cards and pamplets, they're cheap and an excellent way to promote the club. It's something easy for reps and club exec to have onhand should they run into a prospective new member.
So, when can I get some?
I have put the "can run" onto my to do list and will try to have done asap.
Are we going to set a price on said cans, I assume we're going to use them as a fundraising item? I would think that they should be kept reasonable in order to turn them over quickly (so I don't have 100 sitting there taking up space for the next 10 years).
Are we advertising them in CMP or are they going to be available at the shows only? Might I suggest that members contact me for quantities wanted and I can make available at the winter swap or they can be picked up at my shop. (members don't even ask me to personally deliver them)
Thanks again

chris vickery 28-12-05 03:54

Further to my last, the CR (can run) is now complete...
I went to see Marcus today and picked up his generous donation.
For members wanting current issue Canadian plastic jerrycans, the OMVA now has a load available as a fundraiser. Pricing to follow. Interested parties to contact me to purchase or order some. They will be available at the winter swap for those attending.

peter simundson 28-12-05 04:41

gas cans

Thanks Chris. We talked it over and I will be back to you shortly.
