I cannot see the lettering but I bet I wondered if they were from one of the volunteer Ambulance organisations with donated vehicles and women who came over from the States? However I can see the letters 'SSVA' at the top which is apparently:
'Les Sections Auxiliaires de Transport Sanitaire'. Under that appears to be 'AMERICAN VOLUNTEERS AMBULANCE'. So I was won the right track..French ambulances, 1939-40 Chevrolets assembled by General Motors de France, Gennevilliers staffed by Americans who came over before the end of the Phoney War. I wonder if the Germans sequestred them?

The car is a Simca probably a 500 built under license from Fiat.
Yes, a donated from the US vehicle. Somewhere I have more of these plus some different ones and will try to find them.

It may be a Renault but every time I have tried to enlarge the photo I lose all the definition and it just becomes a blur.
All I could do was save your posted photo but as you have the original magazine, maybe you could rescan the photo and work on it at your end to get a larger picture we can see of the other passenger car.

First, I apologize for spelling your name incorrectly.

Now, I was confused by what car you meant and thought you were trying to identify the other one in the far back of the photo.
As to the one on the left, I still feel it is a Simca 5 which I think your museum photo shows as well. Just ignore the headlamp shields and it matches very well.

Hello all.

I am register yesterday on your forum and I fell on this photograph.
I do not think that the car is Simca 5.
The grill on the photograph appears curved, whereas on Simca this one is bent.
I would lean rather for Renault, and like Frederic perhaps Primaquatre .

In a friendly way

Morning gentlemen:
I have not found a really good photo, but I am now "guessing" it is a Steyr, possibly a 120. How that got to France I do not know if I am correct. I cannot justify a Renault, too many differences.
Let me know what you think.
I am posting a rather small/poor photo from Autogallery.ru..
