Stewart, do you have any pics of the new toy?
Guess the T16 is built a little more roomy for us "larger" fellows.
One of the reasons that I got away from the carrier in the first place was due to their cramped driver's quarters, and this coming from a guy who used to have and drive a 12 cab Ford cmp.
When one is 6'3" and 230+ lbs its a bit of a squeeze to be sure!:p

He does, and yes, there's lots of room! A magnificent beast all told. My first time in one and I was impressed. This was built for you fat bastards... :D :p

Well done, Stewart!

I am envious of you, the T16 is the only carrier type where I can fit my lean mean fighting frame (6"6', 220 lbs) behind the steering controls - just.

Oh Hanno, I see you found my backside! LOL ... the gentleman is Mr. Ernie Pain. I can't recall the other two gentlemens names :( They were in the other side of the carrier with Geoff.

What were you doing in that carrier?!? I know Geoff is old enough to pass off as a vet, but I thought you were young enough to walk....

Well ... I just got lucky I guess ;) I'm amazed at how much walking I DID do over that weekend ... it gave me lots of hope for my future. In my case, riding in the carrier was just because of Geoff's friendship with its owner :D

After we had her push-start it (with all of us in it), we decided to give her a ride. She had to give a leg-up to the old guys first, though, not that they minded... :D

BTW, it was really neat... at one point in the parade, I saw a full colonel in dress uniform give us a snappy salute. Together with tens of thousands of people clapping the fellows, I found myself truly moved.

Lastly, credit where credit is due... we were parked on Parliament Hill waiting for the move order, interminably it seemed. Karmen went off to buy a camera (shots coming shortly) then came back to check in. We had no vets with us at that point, but saw some in the gathering crowd. She being a little cuter than me (plus a hell of a lot less of a hard-nose asshole), got down and invited them over for the ride ("vet-hunting" we called it). They were delighted (probably more with her than the rest of us). Anyway, we done good. Kudos to Stewart for an amazing ride ALL appreciated.

My only regret is that I didn't wear my battledress - and before any of you smartasses comment, yes, the same stuff I jumped out of perfectly serviceable aircraft in, some 20 years ago, STILL fits. So piss off! :D :p

Understatement
 

For me, "good" is a total understatement of that day.

When we arrived at the new war Museum, I shook hands with the Vets and told them how I felt so honoured to have ridden with them ... the gentleman on the opposite end of Geoff's side, wasn't content with a handshake... he pulled me close for a kiss and hug ... and I got teary eyed ...

The Vets were a total gas throughout the parade ... their humour and laughter so wonderful to hear. Their aging bodies a little rebellious about doing things like climbing in and out of carriers was forgotten in their youthful high spirits and humour ... I could see the young men they were, in their eyes and spirits. They were also "remembering" much that none of us not there could ever know. I saw this ... and I thought of my own uncles lots, and especially thought of the WW2 "Moms" ... it also being Mothers day.

I can hardly wait until Geoff picks up the CD of the pics I took so that we can show you all. Keep your fingers crossed that I got somne good shots okay? ;)
