Military Show

For those MLU Forum members in or near the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), the following is offered for your consideration.

Canadian Forces Recruiting Detachment (CFRD) Mississauga will host a military display partly to firmly plant a footprint in the county of Peel and, further, to present CF career opportunities.

Lincoln Alexander, former Lt Gov of Ontario will preside over the official opening which will be at 1130 hrs. Displays are open from 1000 hrs-1500 hrs.

Scheduled to be displayed are:

Navy recruiting bus
Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV)III
M109 (tracked artillery gun)
C3 Howitzer and Tower
Line Layer Vehicle
Heavy Logistics Vehicle Wheeled (HLVW)-cargo type
HLVW-wrecker type
Milcot LWVW (This one is new to me...perhaps the G-wagen?)

In addition, Queen's Own Rifles (QOR) Brass Band and Lorne Scots Pipes and Drums will perform.

Further, the Lorne Scots will deploy troops in tactical situations.

Jon;

Me thinks you forgot the 'When' and 'Where' (ie: what date/day and where exactly)

Cheers :)

Military Display Part 2

Damn...senior's moment.

Date is 26 Apr 03 at 33 City Centre Drive near the Mississauga City Hall, close by Square One Shopping Centre.

Thanks, Mark.

What?

Near...NEAR...a shopping mall? Where citizens, nay KIDS, may see it? Will they see ARMY without pale blue berets? Tube-like shooting things? (don't say the g-word) Provided trauma counseling? Forums to deal with the exposure? Who will provide context? What, man this is CANADA!!

(in British Columbia, that most progessive part of Canada, D.N.D is not invited to high school job fairs...)

Message for Gary Shipton

Gary:

I passed on Charlie Chartrand's compliments to Lincoln Alexander today at the Recruiting Centre opening ceremony.

He reminisced briefly about Charlie then said to advise that he had just today sent Charlie a letter, and hoped to get to Montreal to meet up with him.

Garry Shipton (RIP) 26-04-03 23:34

Will call Charlie now

Thanks Jon,signing off to go call Charlie.

BRUCE:

Hi. What you say about D.N.D. not being invited to BC job fairs...is that for real?

Life is mind-boggling. You know, come to think of it, recruiting for the ARMY etc, I haven't seen that except for my surfing for info in their sites these days.
I HAVE seen recruiting posters or ads etc for RCMP or City Police. Not much though. Hmmm.
