red / white switch
If someone has the time could you educate me on the use of the "red white" swithbox located rear drivers side in the frame of my F15a GS.
I just put it through the sandblaster last night and will be installing it in the next couple of days. Rob |
Switch
The "white" position was for convoy driving in blackout conditions. It disabled the side/tail and brake lights and switched on the light on the diff so the following driver had a reference. The back of the differential (right hand side) was painted white for that reason. Chevs usually had the whole rear banjo plate painted white, but sometimes this was only a small patch.
The red position was for normal driving. Hope this helps. |

On Fords, the Red/White switch ONLY operates the tail light/diff light changeover. The brake lights are isolated by a switch on the dash.
Chevs are a similar set-up, but the switch is a "headlight dimmer foot switch" mounted on the chassis rail above the right-rear wheel. |
