This appeared on a f/book page.

A serviceman scratched his details onto the dash.

Is this a C15A ? If so, then it's a rare find.

Evans

William John Evans, TX6642, service record can be found at NAA ID 6385506. His court martial file is not open/not digitzed, but it shows he was serving with 40th Aust Infantry Battalion on 23 February 1944 - wonder what the charge was ... maybe "maliciously defacing Army Property with a penknife"?? :bang:

Tx6642

TX6642 . I managed to find his service file.

This chap, he got himself into strife more than once ! His initial training was in Tasmania at: Brighton and Elwick. In late 1942, he did a course in Victoria. It seems the course was on M.T. ( driving and mechanics )

He was , in May 1943, posted North to Darwin, where he was stationed for almost 3 years. The court marshal was held in Darwin in Feb. 1944 - 2 charges. (1) Losing by neglect his arms and equipment and (2) Neglect to the prejudice of good order and military discipline. He pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of charge 2. He was fined 5 pounds, and his pay was docked. There was also another fine and total he owed was over 11 pounds, not a small amount for those days.

He was then transferred to HQ N T. Force

In his 1942 dated Attestation form, he stated he was single but the form was later amended to married (married in 1940 at age 18)
