Shock rebuild
2 Attachment(s)
I’m about to start rebuilding the shocks for my Otter restoration. I’ll be following the information in the maintenance manual. However does anyone have any advice on replacing/rebuilding the rubber bushing on the arm pivot?

If my memory is OK, Bob Carriere sourced NOS shock links of similar bushing style from Vintage Power Wagons.

Bushing
More info needed .
Is that a rubber bushing inside the pivot point ? It.looks like the bushing slips over a short shaft or stud . But what stops the bushing from coming out ? It looks like the short stud will have to press out or grind the end off ? You could machine up a new poly bushing on a lathe. Poly bushings are now widely used in suspension components. If you don't have a small lathe, you really should get one. You will be making all types of stuff with it. More info. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...hane-bushings/ BTW Delrin is easy to buy. I recently machined up some Delrin O scale model railway wheels for a friend. Good luck . |
