41 Ford utility with US Army
5 Attachment(s)
These pics of a US Army unit include a scene with a 1941 Ford Australian assembled ute .
The APO number refers to the US Army postal service code for a particular location. I found a list of APO numbers online , 323 was Goodenough Island , New Guinea. Can't find 322 yet but I reckon the location was Goodenough Island. I found the document with the APO numbers here https://www.trailblazersww2.org/aponumbers.htm Seems that most if not all of these unique 1941 Ford car based military utes were issued to the RAAF and the U.S. forces in the S.W.P.A. No shortage of bananas ! Thanks to A.B. for permission to upload the pics. A.B. owns one of these rare vehicles, and also has the remains of a second survivor. |

Browsing the GM-H pics in the South Aust state library, I found a pic of a 41 Ford ute. The Ford is parked in front of the GM-H plant in Brisbane.

IIRC Bart Vanderveen wrote about Australian made vehicles in use with the US Forces in Australia.
