Fuel tank strainer
3 Attachment(s)
Hi all
Hoping the collective knowledge can come through on this part. I found this strainer loose inside my Otter fuel tank. The parts manual for the Otter and C15TA has it a 5808869 or C11Q9066A with a name of 3.030 Screen Assy, Fuel Tank Filler I’ve searched various terms on MLU and have come up with nothing. I did find on the LWD Parts site a similar looking item for the Fox AC. Wondering if anyone has come across anything similar. |
For what it's worth, the Fox parts book lists the Screen Assembly, Fuel Tank Filler as part C11Q9066A and then gives the 5808869 in brackets. Same part numbers you have for the Otter, though the part looks quite different to what you have. I read this as the part being mainly a Ford part (of unknown origin, so far).

Jordan,
I suspect you have a C11Q 9066D Strainer - Radiator Filler Neck rather than a C11Q 9066A Strainer - Gas Tank Filler Neck. Please see image from lwd parts: https://www.lwdparts.com/product/str...diator-filler/ |
Grant,
LWD parts lists the part number of the Fox Sieve , inner fuel tank as 7427D36 (I suspect that the D might actually be a number to conform with GMs part numbering system). Does that number or description appear in your Fox parts list? My impression of the image is that it could be a fuel pickup tube filter rather than a tank filler neck strainer. |

Thanks guys for the clarification and identification.
I tried out the strainer and it does fit in the radiator. It also fits into the fuel tank fill port. The flat on the brass ring is to clear the cap chain screw/nut that is inside the fill port. |
7427D36 is listed under the fuel tank heading as Seive Inner, Filler. This part is listed as "supplied by Hamilton Bridge Co.". In the body of the parts list, the part number is shown without a space but in the index at the back of the book it is shown as 7427 D36. I've no idea why or what the difference might be.
It is listed in parts group H (hull) between section 9.xxx and the Standard Stock (bolts etc.) section. |

I have this Service Information Bulletin put out by GM for the Otters. It covers the radiator strainer under two different part numbers.

I have at least three of those, each found in the neck of CMP gas tanks.
