Braden M2 Winch
2 Attachment(s)
Hi.
I'm just curious to see if it's possible to date M2 Braden winches. I've included a few of the stamps on it. With thanks. |
In as much as the 42 to 45 Military dodges were fitted with the MU2, they are dated to a degree. The 1/2 ton WC Dodge had the p.t.o. appeture only on one side of the gearbox, which happened to be on the opposite side to the 3/4 ton WC Dodge. If I recall correctly the I/2 ton winch was am MU model which was then made "inverted" as the MU2 for the 3/4 ton (rated at 5000 lb) and in the 1 1/2 ton Dodges (rated at 8000 lb) The drive shaft, sheer pin and ropes and rope guides, were up rated. Then an MU3 was made post war. I cant remember the details and what they were fitted to. Maybe the WM series? (powerwagons) or maybe they still used the MU2? What does an M37 have?
The 3/4 ton had a 3/8" rope while the 1 1/2 tonners had a 7/16" rope. The rating is on the first layer of the drum. Probably non of this is what you wanted to know? Have you googled Braden winches? BTW. The first photo shows a serial number and the second photo shows a part number. |
