British oil cans

Does anyone know when these two British oil cans were introduced?

Firstly, the 1 gallon can with screw top and handle, it had a square base and ressembled the commercial oil cans which used a rectangular base.
Secondly, a round base can for topping up engines, with taper top and screw cap. The screw cap was in the form of a funnel with a smaller cap on the other end.

They were used and stowed on British military vehicles from WW2 era up until very recent times. I would like to know if they were around in the 1930's.
