Here are the two I built many (many MANY) years ago. |
CMP in 1/35 scale
I remember seeing these as Peerless kits in the mid 1970s, after which Airfix and Italeri took over the moulds.
It surprises me that no one has ever done a simple conversion kit of these to lengthen the wheel base to produce a 3 tonner. In the FAT kit I remember that there were extra parts to build a 13 cab and with the increased wheel size the kit was ripe for conversion, by Airfix or Italeri! To my knowledge the 15 cwt truck is still the most accurate. Its a shame the rear tub was not the most common steel type of mid war onwards! |

They are a fun kit to build. Not as detailed in the finer aspects as newer kits but overall still the most accurate for the cab size and proportion.
Here is one I builtyears ago of a CGT |

A friend asked me to build a model of the exact truck he once owned, happy to oblige. He provided the Peerless (Italeri?) kit and I did what I could to convert the 1942 Chev 15cwt depicted in the original kit to a his 1944. Round roof hatch, hub flanges, relocated overflow can, 2C1 instead of 2H1 wood body. Also opened the windshields and gave it headlamps. I took this pic of it beside the 'stock' version I built decades ago.
