blackout lighting question
Greetings all!
I am nearing completion of a book about the Studebaker US6 similar in scope to my large CCKW book of a few years ago, and I have encountered a stumbling block related to black out lighting. I have several vintage photos showing the black out headlamp (not the black out driving light or black out marker light) mounted on the right front fender (only), and an equal number showing the black out headlamp mounted on the left front fender (and none of the negatives were reversed). I am unable to account for this. Does anyone have any insights. In a possibly related matter, per the ORD 9 SNL G-630, trucks SN 501-6954 used a single Corcoran Brown 21941 blackout headlight, as did first 260 6x4. While trucks SN 6955 to 18954 used a single Corcoran Brown 21142 blackout headlight. How does one distinguish the two types in a period photo? Finally, I am interested in acquiring photos of the US6 in British service - please drop me a note and let me know if you have some available. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Sincerely, David Doyle www.DavidDoyleBooks.com |
