Marmon Herrington transfer case ID ?
 

Hi,

I am looking to identify the model of this Marmon Herrington transfer case. It appears to be the same as in the F5 truck 1948-51 but is a wartime model.

Also looking for leads to source one or two?

Looks like an Australian Ford-MH Dingo Scout Car chassis, James - is that correct?

The handbook for the Dingo identifies the auxiliary gearbox as a 'J' type (1941) unit. May be readily identified by the small fourth lever in the driving compartment to activate the compensator lock control, and the compensator lock operating rod where it enters the front left-hand side of the aux gearbox.

The 1939 MH handbook identifies several auxiliary transmission types in use with Ford All Wheel Drive conversions:

Short wheel base vehicles: F5-4, F5-6, FF5-4 and FF5-6: a needle bearing universal joint is located directly at the rear of the aux transmission.

Long wheel base vehicles: F6-4, F6-6, FF6-4 and FF6-6: short coupling shaft used and the uni joint is located between the rear of the coupling shaft and the rear propeller shaft.
