Greetings

My name is Campbell Finlay, and this is thr first time I have posted a "thread" to this forum.

I live in Australia and I own a WW2 Lynx scout car, and would appreciate any advice or assistance in realtion to markings for units that may have used them in NWE.

Regards

Welcome

Campbell,

Welcome to the forum.

You have some nice looking vehicles.

For marking info a couple good places to start are:

http://home.cogeco.ca/~gdavidson1/home.html

and Michael Dorosh's site - Canadian Soldier in WW2 at:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/28173

The first site will tell you what the markings were, while the Dorosh site will indicate where they went.

Barry Beldam and Dana Neil also have some excellent reference material.

Good luck.

Stewart

Hi Campbell;

Welcome to the Forum. In regards to user unit markings (NWE) for your Lynx, below are two examples of the Arm of Service Marking (AoS) and the Formation Sign (Fmn Sign) used by two Canadian Armoured Corps units which used the Lynx in NWE.

The top example is for that of the "8th Reconnaissance Regiment (14th Canadian Hussars), C.A.C.", the divisional reconnaissance regiment of the Canadian 2nd Infantry Division, whose AoS markings was the figures '41' in white on a divided background of green over blue (horizontal), with the Fmn Sign of the Canadian 2nd Infantry Division being used.

The bottom example is for that of the "18th Armoured Car Regiment (12th Manitoba Dragoons), C.A.C.", the Canadian II Corps armoured car regiment, whose AoS markings was the figures '44' in white on a divided background of green over blue (horizontal), with a 2" (inch) horizontal white bar above (denoting Corps Troops), with the Fmn Sign of the Canadian II Corps being used.

Hope this helps.

Cheers :)
