Attachment 107003 https://collections.slsa.sa.gov.au/r...+213/121/18/36 "Historical information With the outbreak of war in 1939 manufacturing production in Australia was swung towards wartime production. On June 16th 1939 the Australian Parliament mobilized all the country's resources and manpower, materials and productive capacity. GMH placed all plants, personnel and facilities at the disposal of the Australian Government. GMH produced aeroplanes, trucks, ambulances, military vehicles, ammunition, weaponry, tents, assorted canvas goods, boats and associated materials. BRG 213/121/18/36 : The cabin and tray on this vehicle would have been made at the GMH Woodille Plant and probably assembled at GMH Birkenhead Plant. The UK contracted Ford and Chevrolet to build a range of trucks to a right hand drive British Military Pattern. These vehicles were also adapted in Canada. Australia did not have full manufacturing capability and some trucks with cabins, but both Chevrolet and Ford pressed cabins and built trays at Woodville and Geelong respectively. These cabins and trays were fitted to imported 'rolling chassis'. " |

Interesting that the Sigvan bodies are being fitted out internally before lifting the entire body and cab onto their 15cwt chassis.
