Chev C8 IA2 Hoops (boughs, rear frame etc)
Hi all,
Happy new year! I'm now in the position to make up the hoops (boughs or whatever they are called!) for the rear body on my C8 (its a 1A2 type) I seem to recall some drawings or plans on a thread on here, with some dimensions, but I cant find it! Does anyone have any plans or dimensions? I'm thinking I will make it out of galvanised electrical conduit. I'm not going to make the drop down legs as I cant see I'd ever use it as a tent! Once made up I can start looking for canvas! Richard |
Frame
Richard
Cletrac measured his 1A1 frame . I have the details will post the pics here for you. The hoops are made from plumbers style pipe about 27mm diameter. Think the pics are already in thread on MLU somewhere |
The top bows are in this thread.

trivia: "Hoopstick"
GM and Ford CMP parts books generally did not cover the rear bodies since they were made by various sub-contractors. There was a Body Parts List for D.N.D. Special Pattern Bodies to describe all of the body parts not dealt with in the usual parts books. The individual bows were described either as "Hoopsticks" or where there were more complicated cross bars etc then the entire assembly was call a Superstucture. It appears that if there were extensions or legs attached to the horizontal curved bow then the bow part was described as "bow, hoopstick". "Unfortunately the last D.N.D. Body Parts List that I have seen is dated October 1941 so only deals with early CMP's. Maybe a later version has been spotted by others?

There was a January 1942 revision to the October 1941 Body Parts List. Unfortunately, it isn't clear what the revision comprised. Minor corrections? Complete added section(s)? I don't have any idea. I suppose there may have been more, late revisions (again, I don't know).

Many thanks everyone. For reference my little C8 is a 1941.
I thought I had seen some plans/drawings on here, thanks for pointing them out. There's a couple of good photos on the RC Signals site: http://www.rcsigs.ca/index.php/File:...y_Photo_12.jpg |
