Rear axle hub nut

Can anyone help me with the size (across flats) of the rear axle hub bearing retaining nut, also is it 6 or 8 sided? This is for a No2 MK2*
Many thanks

Same size as Ford truck axle, 8 sided, CMP axles as well. Cannot remember the actual A/F size though.

Richard,
Thanks for confirming it is a normal 8 sided hex, I thought it was but needed to confirm. Just need someone who has one handy to measure it now!
Many thanks

I have one in my workshop and can check tomorrow. I bought it from a motor factors a few years ago, think it is a Melco brand.

Here is a link to a supplier, once you know the size,

I believe it is 3 inch 8 side. It is the same socket as used on the american m35 trucks.

Many thanks all, combined knowledge is a great thing.

Just measured mine as was to hand.
8 sides
Just over 3”, maybe 1/16” over (77mm)
Hope this helps. Had a relative bring mine over from Toronto.

My understanding is that all the parts in the rear axle are the same as a commercial 1.5 ton Ford truck - 1937-40.
Try Mac's for loads of applicable Ford Truck parts - https://www.macsautoparts.com

On the basis of what I thought, confirmed by you all I have just bought an original hub nut box spanner for the Carrier on ebay!
Many thanks all
