Was the tank located up under the front panel somewhere ?

Yes, on the left side inboard of the wheel, behind the bumper.

Just to add: The tank shared the same bracket as the horn. Top two holes on that bracket hold the tank at the front and a third bolt at the bottom of the tank goes into the chassis rail.

I can see that as a requirement on a Ford, but on a Chev???? LOL

The weather network says you've got -17 today. I can't imagine either Ford or Chev needing an overflow very much today in your neighbourhood. I know, you claim it isn't cold yet....

According to my Chevy CMP Maintenance Manual "A radiator overflow tank has been installed on some vehicles..."
Will leave it to the Chevy CMP owners to give details of how it is mounted where fitted.

That is definitely the Ford pattern coolant recovery tank.
The Chevrolet tank is shaped somewhat like a gallon paint can and was first mounted on the left nose side over the fender, later below the left toeboard of the cab.
I know people have made visual facsimilies of the Chevrolet tank, has anyone got experience making functioning replicas of the Chevrolet tanks? I think I'm going to have to make at least one of each pattern (side and under cab - the difference is orientation of parts as they are assembled, parts are basically the same).

I have a NOS one for a pattern. I need one for my HUW and would prefer using a copy leaving my original alone.
