What a waste!!!.....I presume these are ex Australian Blitzes (?) dumped in the sea. A lovely tractor-trailer combo, a cab 12 Ford with braces to keep the roof in position......also a jeep and at least three Dodge Beeps.

Maybe they were items deemed damaged beyond salvage and the area they had been sitting in previously had to be cleared for some reason.

Guilty as charged!

The Australian Registration Number 71603 was a Chev C60S with Mk V pontoon semi-trailer that was destroyed and written off on 20May 46.

42352 was an F60L GS that was also written off on the same date and same order.

There is another Chev that I cannot make out the complete number (possibly 713xx ?) that looks interesting, truck fitted w/winch. I see that 71276 was No6 Arty Tractor, that was written off same date, same order???

Now they might not have been deliberately destroyed, that could have been a treacherous corner on a particularly scenic coast road, where A LOT of drivers get distracted by the view? :rolleyes

Tony,

Amazing to see that this sort of info, based on the registration number, is available!
The Chev could indeed be "71276".

A waste indeed. Sad. But I guess that was the practice back then. Even now it still happens.
