Hi Phil , Thanks for the quick reply, Those illustrations are just what i needed , While we are in contact could you tell me where the speedo cable meets the gearbox , I had a quick look today but i could not see it . I think you have told me already that you do not know where i can get a new cable , Paul.

c60 Hand brake

Hi, If it is of any assistance, these are available in Australia off the shelf.
Genuine NOS GMH.
I am looking for a handbrake drum. I have two, but they both have cracks radiating outward from the mounting flanges. I would like a NOS one or a good used one. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Ken Thomas.

c60 handbrake

Hi Ken , Sorry are you saying the speedometer cable is available off the shelf or the brake linings for the hand brake , I have looked at my linings and I think I will get away with adjusting the shoes , Paul

C 60 hand brake

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I meant that the handbrake lining is available NOS assembled. I have some pictures that I would like to post, but are currently having problems with doing so. I have just completed building the C 60 gearbox & transfer case completely using NOS parts, but I need a good drum for the hand brake.

No worries Ken , I just got excited thinking you could buy a nos speedo cable , I will have to get the old one off and have a new one made , I do not know of any handbrake parts available here , I think there are a lot more CMPs in Australia , My Chev came from France and is quite original apart from a discreet caravan conversion under the canvas but my wife comes to shows with me and likes some creature comforts , I would show you the pictures but i like you cannot get the pictures on, Paul

I like the caravan conversion idea

Hi Paul

Nicely fitted out, this makes going to meets and sleeping in the truck so much comfortable.

Cheers Phil

keepin er indoors appy

The great thing about nice accommodation is i get three meals a day and tucked in to bed at night, My Morris c8 tows a replica of Montgomerys office caravan that is laid out like the one in the Imperial War Museum during the day and then converts to a nice caravan at night

Bob Carriere 20-12-17 23:55

How about some pictures of your GIN palace Phil??

Phil

Head room would not be a problem for you in your rig but with my long legs I might have to stoop a little.

And a few pictures of your repro Monty Caravan would also be nice.

On the NOS E brake drum and lining, subject to confirmation from Grant, I was lead to believe that the M35 and possibly the CCKW had identical parts ....possibly including all the assorted springs and hardware?????? and are still available from USA distributor and maybe Frank Von R. in Canada

Cheers

Hi Bob

Your point about headroom is well taken the only place my son can stand up straight in box on BEAUTY is by opening the roof skylight.

Over the years I've bumped my head a fair number of times on the door header, particularly running up the stairs to grab something. Not as much of a problem has I've gotten shorter.

Will dig out some photos of the radio box on BEAUTY Pattern 13 C60S.

Cheers Phil

I have used the M135 CDN (not M35 unless someone checks numbers and find they are the same too) parking brake band on a 2 speed Chevrolet CMP transfer case. Same part number so I assumed it would fit, and it did. The same applies to the springs, j-bolt and other actuating hardware. On checking part numbers for the hardware I found they were common to CCKW and CMP (Chev) so bought a couple of sets from Frank. Again, the fit was right (as you would expect for NOS parts from the same parent company having the same number number).

If the C60 handbrake components are interchangeable with the CCKW (Split & Banjo diff are the same) then they are also interchangeable with DUKW, G506 Chevrolet 1-1/2 ton 4x4 and Studebaker US6.
