P51 shovel carrier

Hi

There is somebody in Nova Scotia selling a Canadian shovel and carrier on eBay.
It appears to be a 50's era carrier.
The item number is 252866662483

Cheers
Greg

Thanks i just had a look at it the shovek looks Canadian but the carrier looks to be American due to the snap and the back of it looks to be a late production

Mikehounsell 02-05-17 20:46

The search is still on

charlie fitton 02-05-17 23:08

The shovels were dated 1953 C-arrow and stamped "NSF"

wore a lot of 52 webbing, but never got issued
a cool shovel like that..

Mikehounsell 03-05-17 02:38

I just found one of these E-Tools while going through my basement, I did have a few unissued 53 carriers also, but I think I sold them all, but I am going though boxes and bags over the next couple of days, I have several unissued 64 pattern carriers as well as a very nice 82 hard carrier

Nice set of 1951 Pattern Web. I am not sure how much of the set you intend to collect, but here are some images of the Binocular and Compass Case combination as well as Bayonet Frogs for both the No. 4 and FNC1A1 Bayonets.

Rob Love might know if his favorite surplus yard still has the binocular cases. I got mine there, complete with a 1942 set of Canadian binoculars inside. Haven't been there for a number of years now so for all I know that yard might have been annexed by Saskatchewan during a border raid.

Mikehounsell 08-06-17 20:12

1951 Pattern Web

The 1951 Pattern Web was used for over two decades so contents within the various pieces will vary according to the time-period. As an example, the plastic Water Bottles had pretty well replaced the original aluminium ones by the late 1970s. Much of the mid-to late 50s and 1960s personal kit was wartime manufacture but the contents would evolve over time. Respirators were not considered part of the Pattern and are an ancillary to it. Several Respirator Haversacks and Masks types were worn in conjunction with the 1951 Pattern.
