1943 c8

Hello everyone,
I have aquired a 1943 C8 which i am trying to get roadworthy again.
I Will upload and attach a picture asap :)
One of the things i have to do is run new fuel lines.
I want to have the tanks cleaned and coated.
The company That does That wants to know how many liters go into a tank.
I have never filled them up so i have no idea...
Can Anyone give me That number?
Thanks!

Hi,

At first, congratulations on you excellent choice of vehicle.
What type of C8 do you have, a FAT i presume, i'd love to see a picture.

I have a pre production 1943 MCC C8 4x4 GS which is restored 2 years back.
The tanks on mine have a capacity of 50 liters per tank.

Rgds.

If you're talking about a Chevrolet C8, check out the CMP specifications on our site: http://www.mapleleafup.net/vehicles/softskin/specs.html

Hello all,
Thank you for your replies!
I almost feel sorry to say it's a Chevy and not a Morris Commercial haha
Because of the enthusiastic reactions :)
But Thank you for the info, iT is indeed 50 litres :)
I am now after a electrical scheme, since all the wiring is loose..

I agree...not a C8, but a C15A. Most likely 1941, not 1943.

Lovely find!

Alex

1941 or early 1942.

Markwin Serlui 08-04-17 01:26

Ah ok! I was basing myself om what The papers say...C8, YeaR of build 1943
But i Will be looking for c15 parts from now on haha
Thanks for the compliment Alex :)

Maurice Donckers 08-04-17 08:12

it was even used for advertising the movie Raiders of the lost ark in Brussels , used to belong to a company called VRP , later sold on to the north in Belgium.

Papers must have been mixed up :rolleyes

Anyway, look for C15A parts, not C15. The C15 is the 4x2 version, yours is the 4x4 hence the "A". And the cab type is Cab 12. Show us a side shot so we can identify the rear body.

Markwin Serlui 08-04-17 12:06

I am à Total cmp cab 12 newbie :)
How can you tell c15a from c15?
And that iTS 4x4 and not 4x2?

A stands for all wheel drive. Driven front axle makes it a 4x4: 4 wheels of which 4 are driven. A 4x2 has two driven rear wheels, non driven front axle.

If you are a CMP newbie, makes sure to buy the book: Drive to Victory - see http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=25403 and elsewhere on this forum

Thanks for the extra pictures. Looks like a nice truck with the correct rear body. What sort of engine does it have?

Attachment 89643

Bob Carriere 09-04-17 02:27

Engine?????

Must be an electric motor Hanno it has no gas tanks!!!!!!

Markwin Serlui 09-04-17 21:06

Tanks are in the back...
Engine looks like à 6-in-line Hanno..

But seriously, does Anyone have an electrical scheme please?

Alex van de Wetering 09-04-17 23:11

Check here for wiring diagrams:

http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6313

Don't know what wires you have to fix, as there are also some threads on wiring of the dash gauges and switches.

Markwin Serlui 10-04-17 07:56

Thanks Alex!

Well i keep finding loose wires throughout the truck.
Some have connectors, others dont.
IT seems two go to the dynamo
And two should go to the Horn
And Some should go to the tail lights which have been cut off

I found the Horn lying about.
So i have to re attach That somewhere too

Maurice Donckers 10-04-17 08:13

What is a 4x2 and what is a 4X4 !!!!!!!!

cletrac (RIP) 10-04-17 09:11

A 4x2 has four wheels and drives two of them. A 4x4 has four wheels and drives all four of them.

Maurice Donckers 11-04-17 08:29

yes David , I understand , but if you buy a truck and load it , you can see the 2 prop shafts , and then still ask if it is a 4x2 or a 4x4 , that is what puzzels me .

Markwin Serlui 11-04-17 14:44

:D it puzzles me why it puzzles you since it was never my question..:D
and frankly i couldnt care less if its a 4x2 or 4x4

I just love the way it looks and look forward to driving it, that's why i bought it...

Markwin Serlui 16-04-17 15:36

I have a manual on the way, but would like to work on the cmp meanwhile.
Can someone please show me where the horn(claxon) Goes?
And on top of the generator are two connectors.
On which one does the positive go?
Thanks !

Markwin Serlui 23-04-17 00:58

Bump please

Bob Carriere 23-04-17 03:24

Let's bump things up.....

Hi Markwin

The horn mounts under the hood.... on the passenger side..... bolted to the outside skin upside down,,,,,, should have 2 holes in the outer sheet metal just a few centimers from the engine cover.....

The generator is another issue...... using the wqiring diagram from the manual try to trace back wires leaving the voltage regulator.... on the voltage regulator you will find 3 wires couplings...one is Batt ( battery) one is GEN the other is "F" for FIELD................... some original generators will have the letter "F" stamped on the casing near the bolts in question..... try to find these wires andf see whichone fits or if you can clean the wire read the cocor code.

I have truck like yours but opted to use an Alternator....... which is simpler and plentiful around here....... also puts out 3 x the amperage....around 75 amps and it bolts right in.

Pictures might help

Markwin Serlui 27-04-17 00:42

Thank you Bob! That is very helpfull indeed!
I really appreciate it
