Looking for a Carrier No23 for WS19
 

Hi all

I'm looking for a few parts for my ws19 install in the Wire 3 truck.

They are Carrier No3 and the quick release mounts for it.
Also looking for the variometer and antenna bracket that mounts on the side of the PSU.

If anyone has spared of these collecting dust I'd be interested in hearing from you. I'll be at the Etobicoke Militaria show April 8 and also the OMVA swap meet in Acton.

Jordan can you post an image of the carrier no.3 ? I have a few assorted carriers

Ah Rodger... it's the woodern base, don't have that one buddy, sorry.

Something's weird here. I expect the carrier you need is a No.23. It's the typical wood one you see with handles at either end. The one in the diagram is called a No.3 and looks like a smaller, less complicated board than the No,23, yet it also shows the waterproof cover No.5 which is used with the No.23. Is it really a No.3 they mean? Or is is a No.23 and they've simplified the drawing? Perhaps so because there is no indication of the corner notches for the No.1 mounting brackets.

The real test would be to check how much space you have on the table. A real No.23 would appear to be wider that the "No.3" shown.

I may have one of those ZA wha-cha-macall-it variometer mounting things.

Good catch Bruce. I just checked my Oct 1944 installation instructions and it's listed as Carrier No23.

Ok. Everyone it's the Carrier No23 I'm after.

There's no actual difference (although later carriers tended to be painted). They simply renumbered the carriers (No.1 became No.21, No.2 became No.22, No.3 became No.23, and No.25 was always No.25). I think it was to avoid confusion with carriers for earlier sets, like the WS11 and WS12.

WO12211 Carriers, Set, Various has illustrations and component lists but is useless from a reproduction point of view because no dimensions are given.

Carrier No.1 appears to be for the WS12 and/or R107 type of set.
Carrier No.4 is for the WS22 (single strap with big spring holding set and PSU. (This one appears not to have been renumbered.)
Carrier No.21 - WS19 and supply unit in standard AFV mount. (Was No.1)
Carrier No.22 - WS19 with supply unit on top (e.g: Sexton, Universal Carrier.) (Was No.2)
Carrier No.23 - WS19 truck & ground station wooden board carrier. (Was No.3)
Carrier No.25 - WS19 demountable station (all metal carrier with top-mounted ancillaries)

The manual is from 1957 and gets up to Carrier, Set No.84 - into the early Larkspur era as C11 and C42 are mentioned.

(The wire from the crocodile clip to the spring terminal on my No.23 carrier is wrong, and needs to come off at some point - this will involve dismantling the terminal as someone took it to bits to fit a very substantial battery lug to it! I still need to find my bag of assorted braid straps to see if one has a slotted lug to fit the spring terminal.)

Bump to the top. I'm still looking for a Carrier No23. If anyone has one collecting dust I'd like to hear from you. I'll be at the OMVA swap meet next weekend.
