mystery part/peep holes?

What are these?
What are they off? I haven't seen them in the flesh, only these photos. They look green and heavy however. Part number reads 7/1221/2. I was thinking post war. |
Could it be the small hatch fitted over periscope apertures to close off when the periscope is not in place?
|
Yes I was thinking something like that. I wonder what vehicle though.

That thing really strongly reminds me of the roof air vent from a Mini Panelvan. IIRC the Mini ones had round corners, but it is probably a 1/4 century since I last saw one, so don't take that as gospel. So I don't think they are peep holes. Regards Doug |
Really, oh that would be funny. I'm way off the mark then.

have you checked a Ferret?

Hi Ryan,
I think Doug is on the right track. They look similar (although not the same) as the footwell vents fitted to the RFSV and SRV variant's of the Australian Army Land Rover 110's. The odd hole spacing of the outer frame appears to match but the door and hinge mechanism is different. Ian |
Yes, some other people I have showed the photos to believe they are simply air vents as found on old Toyotas. Another asnswer was vents found on the rear of boats.
Not military I'm getting told. |
