Peter Dunn is an Australian historian with an interesting website, mostly with aviation content, although with a bit of digging there are some fabulous images there such as this one:

showing a F60L cab 12 C-28409 after a "mishap" which has torn the front axle off the vehicle. Note it's fitted with a tyre pump on the gearbox and still has it's splashguard under the radiator. One wonders what might have caused this crash...
This truck was probably part of contract S/M 2126 or S/M 2127
According to the website the vehicle was part of the 2/12th Field Ambulance and the picture taken in Northern Australia.

But this isn't an ambulance - either this truck was part of the general transport for the unit, or it was a picture taken by a member while on the road.

Damage
 

I have seen this type of damage near home, a local farmer lost control with a load of super on board and ran at speed straight on through a ditch. This took the front axle clean of the truck with minimal body damage. The spring mounts simply shatterd from the chassis.

Yes, I thought it had probably either run off the road or hit a large hole full of bulldust. The term bulldust here refers to a powdery dust which can fill and camouflage nasty holes in the road.
Would've been enough to spoil the driver and passenger's day anyway!

Looking at the spare tyre carrier and tool box the floor of the box what do your think it's made from? It appears to be made from steel.

Fuel Tank
 

The right hand (Skyward?) fuel tank has either wrenched off in the accident, removed in salvage or was it already off the vehicle. Note the long box of approximate fuel tank dimensions attached to the bottom of the tray with lengthwise straps. Would have that been in the way of the tank? What has happened to the drivers side step? Ripped off cleanly, removed for scrap or not there in the first place?

Looking at the fuel tank brackets I'd venture it's been torn off too, along with the driver's step (not that he'd need it any more). You can see the damage to the mudguard where the wheel clobbered it.
On the lower side the muffler's been dented and also visible is the radiator overflow tank mounted under the cab.
The bonnet has been removed and is resting next to the grille.

Tony the box you can see , it could be the box for the tyre chains I have one here from a cab 12 much like that. From all the photos I have seen from cab 12's with a wooden tray and tyre carier the box is usually made of wood and its interesting to see the bottom which looks like steel. Usually on all these cb 12's the fuel tanks have been reversed as the tyre box is in the road of the filling spout.
