hi there

can anyone clarify whether they know of a parts dealer in the U.S who contacted me via my private email regarding an add i put on the forum wanting a fuel tank for my wc54.
they asked for payment via western union. i cant seem to find any proof of who they are. i am in australia and just want to make sure the parts show up. details below.

regards jake

To me red flags appear when western union is requested. If hes a dealer, he should be able to do Credit Card.

If you go to google earth, you can actually "drive" down the road where the address he gives is. The trailer park does not seem to have any military vehicles in it's vicinity.

Hi,

I have a subscription to a good public records search website. There are 43 people named Timothy L Brown in Tennessee, but no record of one in Loretto.

Of course, these search websites have been wrong before...

If he referred to your requested part as an "item", or said " I have what you need in good condition", then it's a scam. Ask me how I know. :doh:

Hi Jake,
This man seems connected with another supposedly from Loretto, take a look at this link to HMVF forum;

Definitely one to be avoided.

All the more reason for "like minded" individuals in the MV community to stick together.
Over here in Canada, our MV community is relatively small so it makes hacks quite apparent when they show up.
Knowing the who's who is of upmost importance. :thup2:

This would be good as a dedicated thread to help avoid scams and such. Are there other known false identities people have come across lately?
