London Gazette publication protocols
Got a wee bit of a puzzle here, so thought I would toss it out to our 'Field Experts' for review. As far as I have been aware to date, when awards were presented by the Monarch, these were written up in the Gazette, providing date and location of presentation, name, Rank, Regiment and Number of the recipient and a copy of the relevant citation. Was/is publication of the citation a normal, standard part of the publication? It typically explains the circumstances behind the award, so makes sense to me at my level, that it should be part of the publication.
