LP2/2A Hub Bearing part number
Has anyone got the 'modern' part number for the bearings that fit into the brake hubs on a kiwi LP2/2A carrier?
From the parts manual, the original Ford part numbers are: Outer: BB-1239-A BB-1240-A Inner: BB-4222 BB-4221-B Need some numbers to give to my local parts supplier as I know they won't have these original numbers in their system. Cheers |
Bearings
Alex, have you tried them yet , as I am sure they still use the number part of those bearings.

A quick google search shows the first two numbers still in use by Ford with their timken equivalents, and the second pair of numbers are used on 9N tractors and others, so those numbers will still be good as well with most jobbers. If not, a google search will get you other equivalents.

Alex;
BB-1239-A = 453X BB-1240-A = 462 BB-4222 = 3920 BB-4221-B = 3984 The first numbers are Ford, the second are Timken numbers. Without the A suffix the cross over ends up the same. By that I mean the BB-1239 is also a 453X and a BB-1240 is also a 462. BB-4221 is also the same without the a suffix (Timken 3984) My memory tells me the difference is the inside radius ( my memory is known to be in error. Ask Christine) |

Same bearing as Brit and Canadian Carrier hubs, if you have a tractor spares outlet, try them or check out online, they are often a better price than the bearing stockists. Last numbers are Massey Ferguson part numbers; BB1239A/BB1240A > 453X/462A > 1850 088M91 BB4221B/BB4222 > 3984/3920 > 1851 533M91 These bearings were used in Massey 35 right through the 100 Line and onwards, so nothing unusual. Hope this helps regards, Richard |
Thanks for the help guys.
Managed to track down some bearings. Went to a business that deals in tractor parts and they were 3 times cheaper than my local automotive parts supplier! |
