US DOD shuts down sales of trucks
I see that Government Liquidations has a note on their web site saying that DOD has asked them to stop selling trucks.
By what is missing from the website it seems to be all the heavy stuff. Looks like anyone who has one is lucky. Bet you they will be gas axed apart and go for scrap like our Canadian trucks do. R |
Hmm, wonder if the engine issue reorted here is what is stopping the sales?

And here it states that ther fire departments will get an exemption so that may be the only route to acquire one in another 25 years when they are finished with them?

Well, according to this article the Defence Logistics Agency will retain title of the ex service smog trucks so that the EPA exemption can be retained.

And if I wait long enough someone on here will show me that i'm a bit of a Homer and someone else has already reported this all and I'm just behind the times

Gl
from what I noticed on GL was that as soon as things went south in Iraq all the tactical trucks went off the sale, then the Navy Dept. put 2 real oddball 900 series truck up for bid and they stayed on, also CUCV's still keep coming up for bid , these engines are also non emission, so for my money I think the trucks were pulled so they could go as aid to Iraq, remember that 2 Iraqi divisions did the cut and run, lots of talk on Steel Soldiers on this topic,

trucks
late last week a few 900 series trucks showed up on GL , now they are back in quantity along with M-35A2's , Hemitt's, etc, good to see , never mind about all those EPA rumors,

I know some of the heavy hitters on our side were arguing the point that tactical MVs were originally exempt from EPA emissions as as such should fall into a grandfather class. I guess common sense must have kicked in to allow things to roll once again.
I suspect the issue of funds recovery or the pending loss of same might have had something to do with it as well. |
