CMP Composite wood/steel bodies

Hi there

The body in the Mirror Model C60L kit is the 5P1 composite body. I noticed the boards that make up the floor are of different widths, which I thought was a mistake. Then I checked my copy of the Record of Design book and found the floors were indeed make up of random width boards.

Anybody know why?

Steve

Other trucks had floorboards made up from various width planks, too.
I think it was done to make maximum use of available timber, reducing waste by not having to discard narrow boards.

Any other thoughts?

H.
