Ford CMP headlamps and buckets

Got my F15A's headlights working for the Normandy trip, but am planning to replace them with new headlamps with 6V H4 Halogen bulbs. As shown by Phil Waterman, they produce a much better light pattern.

As far as I can tell, Ford uses a system which is found on many British cars - or at least mine does after it was restored in the UK. Not sure if this is the original set-up, but I am posting some links to parts stores here for anyone looking to retrofit their CMPs with a more modern setup.

HTH,
Hanno

Here in North America Mac's Auto will have either the flange type bulb in 6 or 12 volt, along with the double contact bulb as used on the carriers, again in 6 or 12v.

They also sell the Halogen conversion kits, but warn that you will require at least a 35 amp alternator or generator. Halogen sucks a lot more juice than a conventional incandescent. Note you may also have to upgrade your switch, although if you are using a milspec toggle switch you should be OK. However, you may need to install a suitable relay to handle the current.

Mac's also sells the original style reflectors and lenses. For myself, I prefer to leave the systems original, and since the parts are available new, I will do so for the foreseeable future.
