A WO number unravelled
General Motors-Holdens built CMPs have a WO number on the dataplate which is an ongoing mystery but following a conversation with Mike Cecil I can now confirm WO78 is the No 6 Field Artillery Tractor.
Salesman Bob gave me the number of a C60S crane which was due for scrapping, and thanks to Mike we now know it was one of these tractors: WO78 13 2844200690M PR3874479 - 8.9.43 Converted to crane to be scrapped - via Bob Moseley, Adelaide And if it's still around, Bob you might like to sand back the front shell to reveal it's ARN - 73863. |
WO numbers
Keith, which office decided on these War Office numbers? Do they relate only to CMPs or to every single Australian design body?

As far as i know it was only for Holden built CMPs, but I may stand corrected... |
No 6 Arty Tractor
Hi Keefy
Last I heard the scrappy still had it. I gave the lead to another collector but whether he followed it through I' not sure. I'll check. Was the No. 6 a Bofors Tractor? If so I know of one awaiting restoration and another under rstoration. Bob http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/at...=&postid=13063 |
