Gas pedal linkage hookup

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all.

Im trying to hook up the gas pedal linkage return spring but I have run into a problem. I believe the rod that goes from the pedal back to the division plate is too short.

Is anyone able to measure up the rod for me. I have marked it as "A" in the photo. Should the other rod come so far forward?

Also, should the return spring be straight up and down at full resting position?

Hey Jordan

remember there's supposed to be a leaf spring and bracket in there...

That's the problem. I installed the leaf spring/bracket and now the rods don't fit. You can just see it behind the heavier clutch rod.

Jordan,my MKII rod is about 40 7/8 inches long , not counting the clevis on each end. The leaf spring should be pretty much straight when the pedal is not depressed.

Just wondering if you have the 2 rods switched around?

David is on to it. The long one is in the front (with the slotted clevis at the back)The leaf spring assy is on the back of the div plate.

Thanks for the measurement info. Ill check the length tomorrow.

As for the leaf spring. I removed the remains of the original one from the same spot. I do not believe the rods could be installed incorrectly as the other one is a lot longer.

maybe?

Wrong side of the bulkhead?

Thanks all.

Ive got it figured out. Somewhere along in its history the rods had been switched with the long one going to the rear. Both rods are out and I will be making up new ones as these have been bent a fair bit.
