Button head bolts ??? 3/8 and 5/16
Anyone know where I can get these ? Preferably slot drive... Not fussed if countersunk or not..... Been looking online but can only fined Philips head or hex...
I have some 3/8 ones but have none of the 5/16 jobs |
I found the easiest way to get these bolts is to use countersunk flat heads ,make a deep countersink in a pc. of brass and weld the head up and round the head by spinning it in the lath ,or a drill chuck will work, then take your thin zip blade and put in the slot.
After making a few you can make them look like the real thing |
Richard, try a google search for the correct name 'Slotted round head machine screws'

Found some none countersunk, however the heads are not quite the same shape.... Not really noticeable though ;-) I had made a few by putting threads onto rivets then cutting a slot into the head, they look identical to the originals.

Button head bolts
I have had them from toolfast direct in the past, but it was a considerable while ago. They don't show on their current web site lists but it is worth asking them as they sometimes have small quantities of discontinued lines left that don't appear on their web site.

Carrier armour bolts
As well as the Bren, Scout and Universal Carriers, the boss head/round head/button head countersunk slotted bolt I am told the they appear on British armour. The DAC and Vickers included... as Richie may say... a shameless plug.
