Main cap question ford flathead 1 Attachment(s) Just noticed in my gasket pack it mentions placing a rope segment in this cap however my end cap looks different to the manual in that it has two grooves rather than one ? The rope won't fit in ??? Is this for a different style main cap ? Also notice the threaded hole, is there anything that needs to go in to this hole or is it just a drain ? |

1 Attachment(s) Second image as I can only post one at a time ? |

Hi Richie, You can post a maximum of 5 pics. You have to upload them one by one though. When all 5 are uploaded you insert them. Cheers mate, |

Looking at it, the hole appears to be a drain but why have it threaded ? |
|
Richard, your motor has a slinger on the crank. It does not use a rope seal. It can be modified by grinding the slinger from the crank, and installing a different seal carrier. The thread is for a drain pipe. |

I think they all have a slinger on the crank but some models had twin slingers and used no wick seal. I have an idea it was late '30s motors but not sure. |
